Sharing Meals with Our Community
Each Hope’s Kitchen meal includes an entrée, bread, vegetable, and dessert. Our meals are different each time, but they are always made-from-scratch, hearty dinners. Some examples include chicken enchiladas, chili w/cinnamon rolls, soup and homemade bread, lasagna, chicken casserole, sloppy joes, and more! Meals are announced monthly in the Black Hills Pioneer newspaper and on our Facebook page. Meals are served assembly-line style. To receive a free meal at Hope’s Kitchen you must be free from the effects of drugs/alcohol, and you must be kind and respectful to other patrons and volunteers.
Guest registration at Hope’s Kitchen is completely anonymous. Guests are tracked by whether they are coming as a family or an individual, how many in each broad age category are in their party, and what county they are from. Once that information is collected, patrons are invited to fill their plates to eat inside, or fill a to-go container to take home and enjoy. As food is available, our guests are also invited to take a second helping home with them.

Partnerships

Our partnership with Trinity United Methodist Church makes Hope’s Kitchen possible. Hope’s Kitchen is an independent, nonprofit program that is open to people regardless of their beliefs. With that said, we operate as a mission of the Trinity United Methodist Church in exchange for free use of their kitchen and dining area, insurance, and some administrative support.
Our partnership with Feeding South Dakota is important for two reasons. First, our kitchen is regularly inspected to ensure we meet all ServSafe and South Dakota Department of Health standards, helping us maintain a safe, clean, and trusted place to serve meals. Second, our partnership with Feeding South Dakota allows us to purchase food at significantly reduced costs, helping us stretch our budget and make the most of donated resources.
Every meal, every volunteer, every act of kindness helps build our community. If Hope's Kitchen has made an impact on you, would you leave us a review on our Facebook page?
